The Right Number of Elephants: (Ages 4-8) Harper Collins

This was my big hit. ‘ The Right Number of Elephants’ sold over a half million copies and was translated into 4 languages. I was lucky to get Felicia Bond  (‘If you Give a Mouse a Cookie”) as my illustrator and in 1993 Harper Collins called it one of the 5 best children’s books they’d ever published. It’s a counting book and has been used in schools quite a bit.  I was chuffed. Thirty years later and I still get little royalty checks. (!!) Imagine being a writer and actually making money…… Never mind.
